3 Ways to Transition Your Healthy Summer Habits To Fall
Fall has finally arrived and will be in full swing before you know it! It’s time for warm beverages, comfort food, the smell of the crisp air ties it all together. You may be feeling nervous because the desire to keep your healthy habits going is so important to you, but then you know inevitably you will be faced with the temptation of something that is not so healthy friendly. The desire to stay active may also plummet. The end of summer absolutely does not mean the end of your continued healthy lifestyle!
Here are 3 great ways to keep yourself on track:
1. Adapt your fitness routine with the change of the season. If hiking, walking, or running outside in the cooler weather isn’t your favorite, consider joining a gym, take a walk on the treadmill or join fitness class! If you’re more of a homebody, surf the web for fitness routines that you can do in the comfortable surroundings of home! You can also make up your own routine which could be a fun way to change things up. Keep your body moving, you will thank yourself later.
2. Don’t stop drinking water! It seems like with the shift of the season I notice that people seem to drink less water in the colder months. This is generally because they aren’t as thirsty and sweating as much, or perhaps it’s the abundant desire to drink pumpkin everything and apple cider! Hydration regardless of the season should always be an important factor in your daily routine. A great way to get your water intake without sacrificing the comfort of a warm beverage on a chilly day would be to boil some water, add in a bit of honey and lemon and you’re set!
3. Enjoy the wonderful flavors that Fall has to offer. During the summer months, we are eating a lot of lighter food, a lot of fresh fruit. When fall arrives we sometimes don’t realize there are so many wonderful and flavorful superfoods that you can incorporate into your diet during the cooler months.
Try adding these superfoods to your grocery list:
Make it fun by checking out a local farmers market. They are always my go-to when I’m looking for quality fruits and vegetables. I’m always finding something new to try when I make a trip to my local market.
Not only will these tips help the transition of seasons go smoothly for you, but the beginning of Fall can also bring new positive changes to your lifestyle. Maintain your consistency and it will stick with you in the long run!
